Open Question: elliptical cross trainer workout

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Is doing a hour on the ellpitical cross trainer on the performance mode with a resistance level of 10 for a hour sprinting one minute then normal pace for a minute then sprinting the next minute and just keep doing that good for weight loss?

Open Question: Getting bored exercising? Any suggestions?

Friday, August 8th, 2008

I’ve just started using an elliptical trainer daily, but it’s really boring and when I start to increase my time spent on it, I don’t know if I’ll be able to stand being so bored. I can read when doing it, but that means I can only exercise my legs, plus I’m bobbing up and down so it’s pretty annoying. I’ve tried listening to music, but I’ve heard all of the stuff on my ipod before.
I can’t watch tv because it’s in my room and I’m not allowed a tv in my room.

Would it be worth buying a radio to plug into my ipod? So that I can keep myself entertained with that? I can’t have it out loud because I exercise early and don’t want to wake my family.

Also, I’m only doing 10 minutes a day and I stay at around 62rpm. If I started doing something else to entertain myself and took it down to 50 but went for 30minutes would it be better or worse?

Open Question: What’s an adequate amount of exercise?

Friday, August 8th, 2008

I’m 13 and I’m trying to be more healthy after reading all those articles about “1 in 3 kids obese”. I’m not obese, or overweight (Just, my BMI is 24.9!) But I thought I should try to cut down on bad food, eat healthily and exercise more.

I already walk to and from school everyday which is 20 minutes overall. I swim once a week for 45 minutes at a club (but I’m going to increase this to twice a week).

I’ve started doing 10 minutes every morning on an elliptical trainer, burning off about 100 calories.
Then I do about 50 crunches, 15 half press ups and lots of leg stretches.

It isn’t for very long and only lasts for about 30mins max, but it’s pretty intense work for me (I’m very unfit).

If I increase the elliptical time to 30 minutes gradually, or do resistance work with jogging and sprints, should this be enough? Is the elliptical trainer similar to running? It feels like it, I just wondered if when I’m confident enough whether it would be easy to convert to running outside (because it gets really boring in my room).

Open Question: Which Is better - Fitness Machines

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Elliptical Trainer
Treadmill
Stepper
Boflex-Trainer step thing

How did one of these impact you and reaching your fitness goals along with your diet
which one really works for you
thank you somegirl. Planning on buying one and i think i’ll go with the Elliptical Trainer, I forgot about that, the fact ho wmuch wear running takes on your knees and joints and this I think would be a good investment rather than a gym membership for 2 or 3 years
